Self-Care Tips: Taking Care of Your Body, Mind, and Soul

“Fall in love with taking care of yourself: mind, body, and soul. There is only one of you. You are truly once in a lifetime.”

-Latisha Cotto

These past few years, I have discovered how much I enjoy practicing self-care and anything that will impact my mind, body, and soul in a positive way. I have managed to find a good system, which is why I wanted to share with you guys all the wonders and antics I have found while practicing self-care in all the aspects of my life.

For me, self-care means cleansing from the inside out. So, in the mornings I will drink water with lemon an hour before I eat to serve as a detox. While I’m working on drinking my lemon water I might do some yoga or pilates. I started doing yoga and found how relaxing it can be when I am going through stressful situations. I also found that doing pilates is my favorite form of exercise and it helps tone my body and get a good cardio workout for the day. It burns fat, makes you stronger, and lifts your mood for the rest of the day. It might not be enjoyable at the beginning, but the more you practice it, the better you will feel and the more fun you will experience.

After a good workout, I will take a shower and cleanse my face like normal just to prep for the next few steps.

Beauty 360 Moisturizing Anti-Wrinkle Firming Mask- I bought this mask from CVS and I only use it on my self-care days. It takes longer than my usual mask, so I will leave it on for 30-40 minutes. It helps moisturize and revitalize my tired skin.

Supernova Face Mask- This mask has activated charcoal and volcanic ash that help absorb toxins, debris, and excess oil. The perfect mask for a deep cleanse. I leave it on for 15-20 minutes.

Valjean Lab Glow Facial Serum- This serum is packed with vitamin C and magnesium, which helps slow down aging and evens out your skin tone. It also leaves your skin with a subtle healthy glow.

Hair:

Your skin is not the only thing that needs pampering. Your hair goes through so much during the day and it is easy to forget about it sometimes. So, I have two things I will apply during my self-care routine to take care of my hair and help repair the damage that has already taken place.

I listed only a few of the benefits, but this lightweight spray is full of amazing perks and you see the results immediately after the application.

Lips and Nails:

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm- This lip balm is so perfect for dry lips and it has a strong fresh minty flavor to it.

Pacifica Color Quencher Lip Tint- This lip tint is literally so adorable. It has such a dazzling natural shade and it helps moisturize your lips even more.

Blossom Cuticle Oil- Sometimes when I have taken off my shellac from my manicures, my nails will appear so dry and unpolished. This cuticle oil is so helpful in restoring the health and appearance of my nails. It is a lifesaver for damaged nails. I can’t believe I have only recently discovered this beauty product.

Self-care routines don’t have to be extensive and expensive. They can be fun and nurturing. It is always a good idea to go the extra mile every now and then when it comes to our mind and body. Self-care does not end at the end of my list. Self-care can continue as you read an informative and enjoyable book, or write in your journal as the sun sets, it can be you watching your favorite show while you eat dark chocolate covered almonds, it could be you cleaning up your workspace, walking your dog, making a healthy homemade pizza, redecorating your living space, splurging on items you’ve wanted for a while and so much more. Self-care is doing what is best for you and finding enjoyable ways to take care of yourself.
